Plastics Testing From Start To Finish At
K
Five LFPlus test machines from Lloyd Instruments will take centre stage at K 2004 to show how to analyse the physical and mechanical properties of polymers at different stages of manufacture.
Lloyd Instruments is planning an exciting display of test equipment at K 2004 Five of the company's LFPlus test machines will take centre stage to show how to analyse the physical and mechanical properties of polymers at different stages of manufacture using the same machine

Mechanical test stand measures force precisely
0odular bench top mechanical test stands are intended for accurate force gauge testing up to 500lb (2.2kN) force.
Semi-automatic rig tests inhaler firing mechanisms
A semi-automated solution to test the firing mechanisms of pharmaceutical 'one shot' pressurised metered dose inhaler canisters is believed to be the first of its type developed.
A simple changeover of grip or fixture enables a wide range of raw materials and finished products to be tested on the same Lloyd Instruments' test machine.
This increases cost-efficiency without compromising on quality for any industry, whether in a quality control, research or training environment.
Testing for compliance with international standards is essential in plastics manufacturing to ensure products meet customer and market demands.
On show at K, the LFPlus is the latest affordable, 1kN (225lbf) single column machine with a modular design for an extended choice of features.
This machine is extremely easy to operate, with a simple plug and play operation.
Test speeds range from 0.05 to 1270mm/min (accuracy greater than 1% at full load) and unlike other machines on the market, this machine features a deep 170 mm (6.9 in) throat and generous working area to accommodate larger than average sized samples.
Also on show will be the powerful 10kN LR10KPlus twin column testing machine, Davenport MFI-10 Melt Flow Indexer for automated melt flow and melt volume rate polymer testing, and Nexygen MT advanced materials testing software with its built in test library, flexible user interface and comprehensive user security and audit trails.
Typical plastics industry applications include tensile, compression, tear, peel, friction and flexure testing of plastic components and raw materials.
This includes tensile strength tests of plastic film, compressive strength and actuation force of keyboards and keypads, insertion and extraction forces of computer components, as well as strength tests on wrapping, packaging, credit cards, sealing tape, adhesives, sealants and rubber.
Lloyd Instruments engineers have also developed a special fixture to test the strength of electrical cable casings whilst simultaneously checking electrical conductivity.
Test machines from the Davenport range are designed to evaluate the physical properties of polymers, such as melt flow and HDT/VICAT.
