Better count accuracy is now available to companies packing tablets and capsules into pots or jars following the introduction of a new combined tablet counting and checkweighing unit by Collischan.

Available in the UK and Ireland through Collischan's agent Logic TPS, this new machine features a highly accurate infra red counting system linked to a checkweigher accurate to within 0.02Mg.

This system makes it possible to fill tablets of all shapes and sizes, including small or unusually shaped tablets, into containers at speeds of up to 50 packs a minute.

The weighing unit is then able to identify any containers that are under or over filled as well as any containing chipped or broken tablets as these will be outside the pre-set parameters.

For higher speed applications two can units can operate in tandem to provide an overall speed of 100 containers a minute and Logic TPS is due to install a twin set-up in the plant of a major UK customer next month.

The machines were ordered following an extended trial with a single unit, which proved the accuracy and reliability of the system.

Managing Director of Logic TPS, Keith Gooch says Collischan has already supplied the new tablet counter to a number of companies in Germany for applications ranging from clinical trials to full production runs and with further orders already received from UK customers this success is now being mirrored in Britain.
