Luxtron fluoroptic temperature probe

Many of today's paper and plastics packaging solutions use an RF heat-sealing tool to seal the packaging layers. The seal can be monitored using the new fluoroptic temperature probe.

Many paper and plastics packaging solutions, such as 12-pack drinks cartons and blister-packs for toys use an RF heat-sealing tool to seal the packaging layers The problem arises that the temperature of the seal must be monitored to ensure proper bonding of the layers, but traditional temperature monitoring methods (e.g., thermocouples) cannot be used due to interference from the RF

Lambda Photometrics represent Luxtron in the UK and Ireland, whose fluoroptic (FOT) temperature measuring instruments are immune to the fields given off by the RF heat sealing equipment, thereby giving fast, accurate temperature measurements.

In addition, the durable temperature probes can be used over and over again during testing of materials.

In one particular application, a Luxtron probe was tested in cardboard package, whereby the probe was placed between the two layers of cardboard to be heat sealed.

The probe was used to ensure the correct sealing temperature was reached.
