LMT (UK) has appointed Kevin Lee as sales engineer, who has 28 years' experience in tool design and application of carbide, polycrystalline diamond (PCD) and cermet technology.

LMT (UK) of Coventry has appointed Kevin Lee as sales engineer, who has some 28 years' experience in tool design, application and engineering sales covering carbide, polycrystalline diamond (PCD) and cermet technology in aerospace, automotive and general subcontract sectors.

Lee was a time-served toolmaker, progressed into tool design and then spent some nine years developing tooling systems for special applications in reaming and fine boring.

Managing director at LMT (UK), Trevor Tolley, said: "LMT has a host of expertise in reaming through its Belin operation in France and has built-up considerable experience in developing new ultra-fine carbide substrates that can achieve up to 80% of the tool life of cubic boron nitride tools - but at a fraction of the cost".

* High performance reamers - LMT (UK) told manufacturingtalk that high performance reamers, including modular exchangeable head systems and single blade reaming, are now being adopted throughout Europe by the automotive industry.

Also, through working co-operation between LMT's Belin and Kieninger divisions, the latest development of Interpolation Tooling is now available for the complete finishing of cylinder head valve seats, using ultra-fine axial and radial adjustment.

Added Tolley: "These are very important areas for customer trials and where Kevin will demonstrate his experience and expertise.".
