Active directory for Lunix and Unix systems
LinuxIT's new services are built around Centrify Corporations' comprehensive Active Directory-based solutions for cross-platform auditing, access control and authentication
LinuxIT has announced a set of solutions for its European customers aimed at helping them centrally secure their UNIX and Linux systems and applications by exploiting their existing Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure.
LinuxIT's new services are built around Centrify Corporations' comprehensive Active Directory-based solutions for cross-platform auditing, access control and authentication.
Historically, Active Directory provided the tools for addressing identity management and authentication in a Windows environment.
Companies with heterogeneous environments were left with running multiple directories, loosely synchronised to achieve a degree of interoperability.
LinuxIT now introduces solutions to extend the known and well appreciated functions and features of Active Directory to the so-far disjointed UNIX/Linux environments.
In conjunction with partners HP and Centrify, LinuxIT are evangelising these products through a series of seminars for IT specialists.
The free half-day seminars will demonstrate the Centrify solution, which provides a native daemon for UNIX and Linux servers that enables them to join an Active Directory domain.
By centralising account administration, authentication, access controls, and security policy in Active Directory, organisations can exploit their Active Directory investment to significantly strengthen security, reduce infrastructure costs, streamline IT operations, and better comply with regulatory requirements such as PCI DSS or Sarbanes-Oxley.
Alex Christophe, Solutions Sales Director at LinuxIT Europe, comments: "We want to show companies how they can create a secure, connected computing environment by seamlessly integrating their non-Microsoft systems and applications with Microsoft Active Directory".
"The solutions LinuxIT are taking to market not only re-connect the disconnected enterprise from a technical perspective, but to also enable UNIX and Windows teams to work together more efficiently using a single set of tools and processes".
"LinuxIT and Centrify can help these teams to work together toward their common goal of strengthening security and streamlining operations for their organisations".
"Centrify are pleased to be working with LinuxIT to bring our solutions to a broader European audience," said Bob Shears, EMEA General Manager for Centrify.
"They have proven expertise in helping customers better manage complex environments where mixed Windows, UNIX and Linux platforms are a fact of life, and their selection of Centrify solutions further validates our strategic vision of delivering a comprehensive set of Active Directory- centric authentication, access control and auditing solutions for non- Microsoft platforms".
