Components for UK canal barges - or 'narrow boats' - are designed and then nested using the latest CAD/CAM, which is directly linked to Trumpf and Whitney punch/plasma combination machines.

Mastafab, a company located in Newcastle-under-Lyme, have relied on Lantek from the very beginning of their business Mastafab have selected Lantek Expert II as their CAD/CAM for design and punching operations

Mastafab are specialised in manufacturing narrowboats and have significant growth expectations in the short and mid terms.

In just 7 months, Mastafab Limited have gone from empty factory to a bustling business with a workforce of 22 hand picked multi skilled engineers and a turnover of GBP 100,000 per month.

From the 16,000ft2 facility in Newcastle-under-Lyme, they have diversified from their core business of bespoke fabrications primarily for the road transportation industry into new and exiting markets such as the leisure industry.

With the seventh traditional narrowboat leaving the factory, and more to follow, the new projects provide the engineers with new challenges on a daily basis.

A 4000kN brake press compliments the production machines.
