Sheet metal fabrication software includes new nesting algorithms - to produce a highly regular nesting pattern - and a new manufacturing orders module.

Malvern based Lantek Systems is launching the latest version of its sheet metal fabrication software at MACH 2006 Lantek Expert Version 25 includes new nesting algorithms and a new Manufacturing Orders Module

The new Nesting Module has been optimised to produce a highly regular nesting pattern in both the automatic and semiautomatic modes, achieving an improvement in material utilisation of 6% when compared with the previous version.

Additionally, new tools have been introduced to handle and save nesting patterns.

These can now contain the machining technology and can be easily identified from the part data, making it much quicker to select the correct nest to cut.

The Manufacturing Orders Module in Version 25 works from a central database which holds information about orders, costs, stock levels and production status.

In the Quotes Module, Lantek Expert uses historic cost and profit margin information to create accurate quotations, while the Inventory Module checks stock levels against orders to determine the actual production requirements.

The Production Control Module now operates much faster, with quicker loading of nests and improved links to inventory and cost modules, enabling the user to obtain a clear, accurate and up to date picture of the production process as it happens.

New icons show the status of components in the parts list, making it easy to identify components which are, for example, incorrect, over produced, completed or required.

A new user interface has introduced a consistent style throughout the whole system, making it far more intuitive to operate.

Automatic error checking for data entry, and new configuration options, reduce the possibility for mistakes and enable the system to be tailored to suit each user.

Lantek Expert Version 25 also includes over 50 improvements in its machining cycles, including a new capability for default technology parameters linked to material thickness; options for parts stacking; visualisation of the actual punch press turret; plus cut path simulation and punch order sequence improvements.

Lantek is committed to providing the most productive software tools for the sheet metal industry and its development team has been working closely with its 5,500 customers from around the world to create the new architecture for Version 25.

Lantek Expert Version 25 will be on display in Hall 4, on stand 4915 at MACH 2006, where visitors can see the full power of the new software.
