Addressing a long standing industry need for high performance and reliability, a printer has a robust self-cleaning print head prints up to 70mm characters on paper sacks, cardboard and wood.

Linx Printing Technologies has entered the outer case coding market with the launch of the IJ600 This new printer addresses a long standing industry need for high performance and reliability, together with low cost of ownership - a combination of attributes that is not fully achieved by current alternatives such as print and apply and Drop on Demand (DOD)

The pioneering new printer features a robust self-cleaning print head and IP65 rated stainless steel enclosure.

It has been designed with tough production environments in mind and is capable of printing large characters, images and barcodes up to 70mm high on to multi-wall paper sacks, cardboard, wood and any other porous surface.

The quality of print also allows variable data to be printed on to generic packaging, thereby replacing costly pre-printed bags or boxes.

The IJ600's low cost of ownership is generated through reliability, reduced downtime and low maintenance.

These are achieved through: * The self-cleaning, rugged, robust print head - Guaranteeing reliable printing, the print head cleans itself thoroughly before each production run, removing the need for daily or weekly manual cleaning.

This, together with its ability to withstand both vibration and a range of temperatures, will present a major benefit to users and will make significant improvements to the efficiency of their operation.

* The single jet array - This offers precision printing at a resolution of 7 dots per millimetre.

Large characters between 1.4mm up to 70mm can be produced by a single jet array, giving consistent vertical alignments.

This helps to ensure that barcodes and text are consistently readable, and symbols and logos are accurately produced.

* Ability to print in any orientation - The control unit can be placed up to 8 metres away from the print head, which itself can be positioned in literally any orientation, thanks to its specially designed pressurised ink systems.

* The sealed print head and ink system - This ink system can be re-filled during printing to minimise down time.

The print head is also sealed, allowing reliable and clean start-ups.

* The single button start/stop - This provides ease of use for the operator, as well as reducing the time required for start-up and shut-down.

The large clear display and keyboard also helps to make operation easy and error free.

Roger James, Product Manager commented: "The launch of the IJ600 illustrates our on-going commitment to understanding customer requirements and addressing these needs through successful product development.

We believe that the technology behind the IJ600 offers customers a single solution compared to alternative systems.

This reliable and robust printer represents a significant new departure in coding solutions for the outer case coding market.".
