Plastic-film ink adheres to difficult
materials
Black plastic-film ink offers excellent adhesion to many plastics, such as PVC and nylon that can be difficult to print onto effectively - suitable for coding cabling and plastic extrusions.
Following on from recent successes of the Linx Ink Development Programme, the company has added Linx Black plastic-film ink 1016 to its extensive range of inks for continuous ink jet (CIJ) printing Linx Black plastic-film ink 1016 is specifically designed for OPP (oriented polypropylene), a material that is becoming increasingly popular for use as packaging for confectionery, dried foods, drinks, pet foods and other food and drink goods

Advanced printer driver software avoids labels
Advanced printer driver software provides flexible code creation that allows impulse jet printers to allow easy, cost effective outer case coding rather than having to print onto labels.
Printer's self-cleaning head marks porous surfaces
Addressing a long standing industry need for high performance and reliability, a printer has a robust self-cleaning print head prints up to 70mm characters on paper sacks, cardboard and wood.
In addition, 1016 offers excellent adhesion to many other plastics, including materials such as PVC and nylon that can be difficult to print onto effectively - making it suitable for coding items such as cabling, plastic extrusions, bottles and caps.
Linx 1016 ink offers a tough and flexible code without the need for prior surface-treatment (for example, with corona discharge or flame) and its rapid drying time makes it the ideal choice for coding onto fast running production lines such as those that use OPP flow wrap and OPP pouches.
Linx developed the new ink in conjunction with leading suppliers of OPP films, following requests from customers who were unable to find suitable inks for their OPP packaging.
The response from customer trials has been extremely positive with successful adhesion and excellent print quality being achieved on the targeted packaging materials.
Linx 1016 ink is designed for use with 2-line and 4-line Linx CIJ printers and a range of advanced Linx printheads.
Roger James, Ink Product Manager at Linx, said "We are delighted to add 1016 ink to our range.
We believe that its plastic adhesion properties, in particular to OPP, will quickly establish it as an industry leader and that it will be especially useful for the food and drink industry, given the growing popularity of OPP packaging".
