Advanced printer driver software avoids labels

A Linx Printing Technologies product story

Advanced printer driver software provides flexible code creation that allows impulse jet printers to allow easy, cost effective outer case coding rather than having to print onto labels.

Following the successful launch of the Linx IJ600 impulse jet printer, Linx has developed new printer driver software to provide flexible code creation.

Addressing the industry need for easy, cost effective outer case coding, the Linx IJ600 Printer Driver allows users to create a product code within a Windows-based application running on a PC and download it for printing.

Mike Utley, Product Sales Manager at Linx, said: "The new IJ600 Printer Driver for Windows application lets you exploit the full power of a label design program in preparing product codes plus other types of messages, and then print directly onto outer cases or paper sacks, rather than having to print onto labels.

Because the IJ600 Printer Driver provides a generic, industry-standard interface, there is no need to purchase new label design software, as with some other outer case coders on the market.

Consequently, the IJ600 offers a more flexible and dynamic approach to product code creation." The new Printer Driver gives the user an extensive range of options when creating product codes.

In particular: * The ability to preview the full product code on a PC screen prior to printing.

* Easy editing of text sizes and importing of images which can be scaled to size.

* The ability to rotate bar codes, text and graphics.

* The ability to interface with databases when printing product codes.

Users can also create line graphics simply, use a wide range of True Type fonts and apply bold and italic text to messages.

Furthermore, some applications enable the user to include in their code design dynamic code fields from the printer, such as time and date fields, which are updated automatically by the printer.

Since its launch, the IJ600 outer case coder has been very favourably received because it addresses a long-standing industry need for high performance and reliability, together with low-cost of ownership.

The printer's main features include a robust self-cleaning print head, the capability to print large characters, images and barcodes up to 70mm in height at high resolution onto carton boxes and trays, multi-wall paper sacks, cardboard, wood and any other porous surface.

It also has an IP65 rated stainless steel enclosure.

"The IJ600 Printer Driver opens up a whole range of graphic options to users of the IJ600.

It also allows you to prepare a product code centrally and distribute it to all the printers on your production floor, saving time and creating a more efficient and cost-effective production line," concludes Utley.
