Laser system perforates and scores flexible packaging films on high speed production lines for modified atmosphere packaging and 'easy-tear' applications.

Reaffirming Linx's position as technology leader of its industry, the company will be unveiling several new additions to its range of inkjet, impulse jet and laser coding systems at this year's Interpack show (Hall 11, Stand E27) All the products are designed to meet evolving customer needs, and are reliable, easy to use and offer the benefit of low cost of ownership

Simon Powell, Marketing Manager at Linx commented: "Since the last Interpack show, we have really strengthened our product offering in all our technologies - continuous inkjet, laser and impulse jet.

It's an exciting year for us with so many new additions to our range, so we are keen for people to visit the stand and see the developments for themselves." One of the new products making its first appearance will be the Xymark LC.

A one-stop solution, this is of interest to manufacturers looking for a laser system that can both perforate and score flexible packaging films on high speed production lines for Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) and 'easy-tear' applications.

The micro-perforating involved in the MAP application allows manufacturers of fresh produce to maximise shelf-life and storage.

This is because the micro-perforations produced help to minimise respiration rates that can lead to rapid deterioration of the produce and therefore large-scale wastage.

The Xymark LC can be programmed to generate different hole patterns in packaging, thereby enabling the right conditions to be created for each type of produce.

Additionally, this innovative laser has the capability to score easy-tear lines, enabling the finished packaging to combine protective properties with consumer friendliness.

* Also on show at Interpack 2005 for the first time - expanded Xymark Steered beam laser range Visitors to the stand can preview an expanded range of Xymark steered-beam laser systems which complement the highly successful 300SL.

Suitable for a wide range of coding and marking applications on medium-speed production lines, the Xymark 300SL is more compact and lighter weight than other industrial laser coders in its class.

Its 'small spot option' is ideal for applications requiring intricate codes, such as small electronic components or pharmaceutical products.

The expanded range will be previewing at Interpack 2005 and until then, details are under wraps.

* New developments for the popular Linx IJ600 Outer Case Coder - since its launch, the IJ600 outer case coder has been well received, addressing requirements of the secondary packaging industry for high performance and reliability, together with low cost of ownership.

This product is much favoured by companies wishing to reduce their secondary packaging costs.

During 2004, the company developed new printer driver software, allowing users to create a product code within a Windows-based application running on a PC and download it for printing.

Further features, which will bring greater user benefits, will be on show on Stand E27 Hall 11 at Interpack.

* The recently launched Linx 6800 Swift on show at Interpack for the first time - the Linx 6800 Swift provides a fast, reliable coding solution that gives new levels of print quality at high print speeds.

Incorporating the new Linx mini printhead, the printer produces smaller print sizes for coding onto even the most awkward of spaces.

Codes as small as 1.4mm in height can be produced.

The ability to print smaller 2-line codes at speeds as fast as 2.93m/s means this printer is suitable for a range of very fast production lines including those used for bottling, canning and cabling.

* New Linx grey ink offers ultimate flexibility - a recent addition the Linx range of high contrast pigmented inks is Linx High-opacity grey ink 1310 for use with the Linx 6800 Spectrum printer.

Ideal for use on both light and dark coloured materials, the versatile new ink also brings cost savings to users.

Whatever the colour of the product to be coded, Linx High-opacity grey ink 1310 provides greater flexibility on the production line as only one printer and one ink needs to be used, avoiding the expense of using multiple printers and inks.

The ink adheres well to many materials including metal, rubber and plastic.

Visitors to the Linx stand will be able to see the benefits of this ink for themselves and find out about the wide range of other Linx inks, all of which are developed to meet the particular requirements of different production environments and the material onto which the code is to be applied.

* An extensive range on show at Interpack this year - as well as the new additions to the company's range of inkjet, laser and impulse jet products, stand visitors will be able to find out about the Linx 4900 2-line printer which is IP55 rated and can print at speeds of up to 6.25m/s.

Launched in January 2004, this printer has proved to be Linx's most successful product to date.

At Interpack, the printer will be used to demonstrate the benefits of Linx Black plastic-film ink 1016, which is specifically designed for OPP (oriented polypropylene) and is proving popular with manufacturers of flexible packaging.

Simon Powell, Marketing Manager at Linx concludes: "We are really excited about this year's Interpack show.

Linx will be demonstrating the full breadth of its product range, as well as its commitment to investing in coding and marking technology to meet our customers' ongoing requirements." Visitors to Linx's stand are invited to come and play Linx's online GoldRush game to compete for the winning prize of a digital camera.
