Already aware of the Locators Group as an integrated storage solution provider, and with experience Toyota forklift trucks, Facilities Manager, John Wickens, invited Locators Storage Systems to tender for the business.
Through its detailed approach to the project and competitive pricing, Locators Storage Systems was awarded the contract by presenting King UK with a meticulous working programme, which would enable the company to continue functioning whilst the refurbishment was taking place.
Acting as main contractor which included taking full responsibility for all CDM requirements, Locators Storage Systems proposed the installation of a new mezzanine floor, shelving and live storage over the existing despatch area.
The new mezzanine floor was installed in four phases so that only two loading doors were out of action at any one time.
Once the mezzanine floor was completed, new shelving and carton live storage systems were then installed.
To complete the work, lighting and a sprinkler system was then fitted to the new structure and Locators Storage Systems also designed a barrier system to protect the stanchions of the mezzanine floor as forklift trucks were in constant use underneath.
"We have been dealing with Locators for over 3 years and have always been impressed with their service and attention to detail," remarked John Wickens.
"Locators Storage Systems reaffirmed our confidence in the Group by providing us with an excellent solution and completing the work on time and with minimal disruption." Providing an effective chain supply solution, King UK runs a fleet of 170 commercial vehicles and makes over 16,000 deliveries each week, supporting 50,000 customer outlets.
The company employs a workforce of 700 and operates from 16 regional locations and depots that are strategically placed throughout the UK.
