Loma Systems Offers The Best Deal
Loma Systems, is inviting visitors to this year's Foodex Meatex ,to take a closer look at its comprehensive range of end-of-line inspection solutions.
The latest technology and our reputation for quality combined with competitive pricing offers by far the best value for money." Loma will be showcasing its AS range of checkweighers for packaged products, which incorporates the newly developed digital loadcell making it the most accurate, reliable and robust system on the market.
Loma has collaborated with Hottinger Baldwin Messtechnik (HBM) of Darmstadt on the development of the FIT (Fast Intelligent Transducer) digital loadcell.
This has resulted in a significant improvement in weighing speed and accuracy by enabling the checkweigher to handle products at the highest line rates without degradation of performance.

Accurate checkweighers operate at highest rates
Checkweighers for packaged products are claimed to be the most accurate, reliable and robust on the market and handle products at the highest line rates without degradation of performance.
Both Loma and HBM are wholly owned subsidiaries of Spectris plc, the specialist technology-based instrumentation and electronics controls company.
Loma has responded to the varying requirements of customer production lines, by developing the AS Range in a variety of options which balance the need for a tailor-made solution with ease of maintenance and cost control.
On display at PPMA will be: * AS Combo: a combined metal detector and checkweigher designed to save space and optimise performance.
* AS 1500 designed for optimum performance on rigid and flexible packs up to 1500g.
* AS1200C designed for dry environments where space is at a premium.
Loma ' s checkweigher offering is complimented by Loma OnLine, a total data management solution for companies with multiple checkweighers, which amalgamates weight and overfill data and presents it centrally.
The windows-based solution can be installed on any model of Loma checkweigher, and will automatically recognise new products and set up the relevant database.
Also on stand will be Loma ' s latest developments in its range of IQ2 metal detectors.
The following models will be displayed: * The IQ2 Metal Detector Conveyor system, suitable for product weights of up to 60kg, which features modular mechanical and electrical components for easy maintenance and minimum downtime.
* A 2.5 " Pipeline with ARV60 Reject, a new design for the sausage industry fitted with a fully automatic reject valve.
Loma ' s metal detectors incorporate an easy to use Performance Validation System (PVS).
PVS automates the HACCP regime by automatically prompting the operator to check the performance of the metal detector at pre-set intervals and provides proof that the system is operating at optimum sensitivity throughout a product batch.
Bringing range completion to Loma ' s portfolio of metal detectors, the new Harsh Head Metal Detector and Dual Frequency Mounted Metal Detector will also be on stand.
The new Harsh Head Metal Detector is the most robust and durable in the market place and is designed specifically for meat, poultry and fish production environments that are subject to harsh wash down.
The Dual Frequency Mounted Metal Detector has 49 frequencies and has been developed specifically for lines running products in both metalised film and normal PE film packaging, where both a low frequency and higher frequency is required in order to maximize achievable sensitivity.
Loma ' s latest X-Ray technology will be on display in the compact option.
The X3 Rapid offers high-speed x-ray inspection capabilities at an entry-level price and takes no more line space than a conventional metal detector conveyor.
Designed to detect minute contaminants, missing items, product defects and under-filled packs, it is capable of reaching speeds in excess of 90m / min.
Rapid 's compact size makes it the ideal solution for fast production lines where space is limited, i.e following high-speed flow-wrap machines.
The system has a more powerful x-ray source, which provides a better image contrast and will detect softer contaminants such as bone, rubber or plastic.
Even products packaged in metal foil can be scanned.
The software also self-adjusts to allow for changes in the product, maximising sensitivity and minimising the possibility of false rejection of good items.
PPMA - 23-25 September, 2003, NEC Birmingham UK.
