Promoting manufacturing in West London
UK manufacturing companies in Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow have banded together to form the West London Manufacturers' Action Group.

Chairman Alan Coates, who is also Chair of Park Royal Partnership, which supports the initiative, told colleagues that although 10% of UK manufacturing was based in London, with 270,000 manufacturing jobs in the capital accounting for 6% of London's workforce, in the west London region, manufacturing had a poor image.
Recruitment, transport difficulties and the cost and availability of suitable premises were major problems.
English was not the first language of many employees within the sector and of the general population in the area, 22% had poor literacy and numeracy skills, with 14% having no qualifications.
Manufacturing action groups which had been set up in other parts of London had prevented multi-national organisations from leaving their areas, saving thousands of jobs.
Industrial estates had been refurbished, training schemes set up and links with tourism established to generate business.
"The West London Manufacturers Action Group can play a key role in supporting and promoting manufacturing in the six west London boroughs and has to be the voice of manufacturers in the area".
"I hope that this group will develop over time to bring real benefit to local business people in manufacturing and to evolve a truly representative forum for manufacturers to work together to mutual advantage," he said.
