The Lowe Group's approach to electrical safety is a holistic one, covering every aspect of the issue to provide their clients with a comprehensive safety package covering safe systems of work, safe places of work and safe people at work.
Despite the introduction of the regulations almost 15 years ago - and the recent pressure on firms by insurance companies for them to effectively 'put their house in order' - many companies and organisations remain in breach of the law by their failure to fully understand as well as meet the demands of this particular set of regulations.
One of the key issues within the regulations is the requirement for all electrical equipment and systems to be 'maintained so as to prevent, as far as is reasonably practicable,' danger.
This is Regulation 4(2) which highlights the need for maintenance to be carried out.
How can electrical systems be maintained effectively? Only by inspection and testing.
The services provided by the Lowe Group include initial risk assessment surveys, with work undertaken to ensure compliance with current legislation and HSE requirements.
This can include the provision of updated electrical system network drawings and the supply of adequate documentation more increasingly being required as a precursor to insurance cover renewal.
The group is also proactive in raising the issue of electrical safety in the workplace through regular technical seminars and conferences held across the country.
These events feature presentations by some of the country's leading electrical safety specialists, covering the Electricity at Work Regulations in some detail, the dangers of non-compliance and the thorny issue of insurance risk.
It also provides numerous training courses at their City and Guilds Approved training centres, and as part of their comprehensive inspection and testing programmes they offer clients the opportunity to access free training for their own personnel.
This will ensure that their workforce has adequate knowledge, experience and supervision to undertake safety related tasks.
Indeed, everything the group involves itself in is geared towards helping companies meet their electrical safety obligations throughout every tier of their organisational structure.
