Metal detectors and checkweighers suitable for a variety of applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries will be on show at Lock Inspection Systems on stand 12310 at the PPMA Show The show, running from September 27-29 will see Lock display detectors for quality control and inspection at all points of the production line, including the Compact Vertical Fall detector, which has just achieved ATEX certification and the MET30+ range, including the MET 30+ hf

Lock said that high levels of interest in the ATEX-approved detectors are expected from both the food and pharmaceutical sectors.

The company added that manufacturers have less than a year to ensure all machinery in potentially explosive production environments is ATEX-certified.

Lock believes it is the first UK metal detector supplier to comply with the directive following the Compact Vertical Fall's award (for zones 22 and 21) earlier this year.

Also on show will be Lock's MET30+ range for the detection of metallic contamination.

Using a single high frequency, crystal-controlled oscillator, the MET 30+ hf is said to offer up to 30 per cent higher sensitivity than standard detectors in the bakery and snack sectors.

The MET 30+ 3f is claimed to be the world's first fully automatic triple frequency detector, capable of highly accurate inspection of both poly-film and metallised packaged food products.

The MET30+ Pharmaceutical is said by Lock to be its most sensitive detector.

Operating at up to 30,000 tablets per minute, it is suitable for high-speed production lines.

Software will be demonstrated for compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 in the pharmaceutical industry.

The software, developed in collaboration with industry experts, marries high-speed inspection with the requirements for electronic signatures and records.

Since its launch, the software has attracted interest from all over the world as increasing numbers of manufacturers aim to comply with US FDA guidelines, said Lock.
