Neville Rail Projects of Kirby in Ashfield, has ordered a 6m x 6mm shear and a 6m by 2200kN PPEB multi-axis CNC press brake from LVD UK of Marlow to replace existing manual machines and to bring in-house, sub-contracted component manufacture.

Says Mike Neville, Managing Director: "We thoroughly evaluated the market, before selecting the GBP200,000 LVD machine package.

The machines are ideal for us due to their robustness and productivity capability to produce interior panelling for rail carriages and commercial truck body components for our sister company Neville Transport." The Nottinghamshire based company will be processing mild steel, aluminium and stainless up to 6mm thick in batches between 20 and 100 components.

With a group turnover of GBP6 million and 50 employees Mike Neville says: "We anticipate that the move into CNC machinery will enable the us to control and improve the standards of accuracy and quality of our products which will increase our competitiveness." The PPEB multi-axis press brake will include 6m of LVD's 'safety edge' tooling which will allow components with a safety edge and subsequent bends to be formed using a single tooling set up.
