A 1350kN, 3m press brake has a patented laser assisted process angle correction system and sheet following systems enabling one operator to bend large parts to high tolerances.

The UK's leading manufacturer of bellows and machinery protection systems, Beakbane, has invested GBP 150,000 in an LVD Easy-Form 1350kN (135 tonf), 3m CNC press brake with a CADMAN offline software Beakbane has puchased the CNC press brake (brake press) to replace an existing CNC press brake and will become the main stay of Beakbane's bending capacity

Fitted with LVD's patented Easy-Form Laser in process angle correction system and T1-T2 sheet following systems, the machine will allow one operator to bend large parts to high tolerances.

The integrated Easy-Form Laser system automatically monitors and corrects in 'real-time' the angle of the fold regardless of material variations, ensuring perfect parts from the first to the last piece.

Beakbane has also opted for a T1-T2 CNC sheet following system, which using twin CNC controlled supports, supports and follows the part throughout the bending process.

The system ensures that the weight of the sheet does not 'break the back' of the part during bending.

* Offline and online process integration - offline and online process integration is achieved through LVD's CADMAN-B 3D software, which enables Beakbane to import a SAT file directly from their SolidWorks system.

CADMAN-B 3D can then automatically calculate bending feasibility, tool set-ups and a program for the Easy-Form press brake.

CADMAN-B 3D does this by using the centralized 'intelligent' bending database shared between the press brake and the offline software.

Managing director of Beakbane, Barry Reeves, said: "This machine is part of our major investment programme to maintain Beakbane's position as the European leader in machinery protection systems design and manufacture.

The increase in capacity and efficiency provided by our investment is necessary to accommodate the significant demand we are experiencing from all sectors of our business".

About the press brake and its software, Reeves commented: "The addition of the Easy-Form machine and CADMAN software as an overall bending solution is an important factor in us assuring the high quality and accuracy of our products.

Being able to directly import parts from our SolidWorks system and automatically generate the information for the tool setup as well as the machine program is a huge advantage".

He added: "Also the use of the Easy-Form Laser angle correction system and the T1-T2 supports will mean that we can be confident that our accuracy will be spot on whilst being able to save labour costs".
