Digital positioner allows nanometre
focussing
Linos Photonics has introduced a digital Piezo-Nanopositioner for micro-objectives and has a travel of 450 micron to nanometre resolution.
Piezosystem Jena, Germany, has expanded its MIPOS series of micro-objective focusing devices with the nanoMIPOS400 CAP in a digital version The nano positioner provides a travel of 450 micron with nanometer resolution, said Linos Photonics, which is making the positiner available in the UK and Ireland

Mounts protect small instruments from vibration
Vibration is one of the problems that can affect the accuracy of small vision and measuring instruments, which is why Linos has introduced a hard mount vibration damping system.
Linos accoustic enclosure protects microscopes
Linos Photonics has introduced the TMC accousic enclosures to protect microscopes, AFMs and other small precision instruments against vibration.
The nano-positioner's bidirectional nanoX flexure design allows for a high dynamic and extremely accurate guidance.
The integrated positioning sensors are claimed to guarantee long-term stable positioning, free of drift, and hysterisis.
* Digital electronics - the digital micro objective nanopositioner is operated with digital electronics, which offer the excellent advantages of the ASI- and ASC-function.
The ASI-function (Automatic Sensor Identification) allows piezo actuators with positioning sensors to be completely interchangeable with control electronics of the same type.
Recalibration of the system is no longer necessary, said Linos.
The ASC-function enables an identification of the nanoMIPOS 400 CAP and its calibration information.
This data is stored in the positioner itself, and is immediately activated after the electronics have been changed.
With an integrated function generator, which contains standard values for frequency, amplitude, offset and so on, functions such as: sine, triangle can be implemented.
Depending on the application the digital controller allows in-situ adjustment of the PID parameter, notch filter parameter and rise limitation.
So the nanoMIPOS 400 CAP can be optimized in different 'trial and error' scenarios easily.
The system satisfies the high precision demands in biology, medicine and laser technology.
The nanoMIPOS 400 CAP can be easily adapted in upright and inverse microscopes.
Like all MIPOS systems from Piezosystem Jena, the nanoMIPOS can be used with any thread types from W0.8x1/36, to M25x0.75, and even M32x0.75 with the use of a thread-flex-adapter.
