Design and manufacture of locks for industry
Lowe and Fletcher made 10 million locks last year, the culmination of seven years of sustained investment and growth, after creating partnership agreements with its customers.
Lowe and Fletcher, UK designer and manufacturer of locks for industry, made 10 million locks last year, the culmination of seven years of sustained investment and growth.
The firm puts its success down to its focus on creating partnership agreements with its customers, and to working collaboratively with them to develop innovative solutions to security challenges.
Managing director Robert Smith explained: "By working closely with customers at all levels we gain a unique insight into their products and markets.
We are then able to anticipate need and propose new locking systems to enhance their own end products and ultimately impress their customers.
"In other cases they will present us with an issue, and we can work hand-in-hand to resolve it." One example is the development of the High-Security RPT caravan wheel lock with leading caravan chassis manufacturer Al-Ko Kober.
Robert Smith said: "Al-Ko wanted to raise the bar in terms of caravan security, and asked us to help in devising a solution.
"Lowe and Fletcher proposed a variety of options and the chosen version, which went into volume production during 2006, offers a level of security that has since been adopted by insurance companies as their preferred standard." Following the success of this launch, Lowe and Fletcher are now working on further product development for Al-Ko.
Robert Smith says that the company is able to flourish in the face of aggressive competition from overseas because of its commitment to being a "full-service supplier", from research, design and development through testing and manufacture to distribution and logistics.
"This ability to operate as a one-stop specialist means that Lowe and Fletcher effectively simplifies the supply chain for its partners.
Most other companies operating within the industry only offer specific elements of the process." The firm also has ambitious plans for 2007, including the launch of a range of electronic locking systems for cabinets and lockers, with particular applications for premises such as schools and colleges.
It is also developing strategic alliances with a select number of specialist electronic companies.
