The Series 2000 range of Melt Pressure Transducers' patented design allows accurate pressure readings to be made without the traditional transmission-liquid filling.

The Series 2000 range of Melt Pressure Transducers is now available from Magna Projects and Instruments' On-Line Shop at www.magna-projects.com The patented design allows accurate pressure readings to be made in laboratory rheometers, pilot plant, and processes such as plastics extrusion and mixing, without the need for the traditional transmission-liquid filling of mercury or sodium-potassium, which can lead to product contamination if these transducers break

As well as being suitable for general use, the Series 2000 is an attractive choice for sensitive applications such as pharmaceuticals, film, medical product production, biological materials testing, food manufacture and for energetic materials.

They may be operated via an intrinsically safe barrier for hazardous-area use.

The wetted parts are of stainless steel, with a Di-Hard (r) corrosion and abrasion-resistant tip on the standard transducers.

For more demanding applications, coatings of Titanium Nitride and Hastelloy are available.

Additionally, an integral Type J or Type K thermocouple can be provided.

Manufactured under licence by Terwin Instruments, Series 2000 transducers are available in four stem lengths of 92.5mm, 152.5mm, 228.6mm and 305mm, are supplied as standard with the industry-standard 1/2in-UNF-2A mounting thread (although others such as M18 are offered), will operate at temperatures up to 450 degrees Celsius and are supplied in pressure ranges up to 2,100 bars.

Their accuracy is better than +/-0.5% and reproducibility within +/-0.1% of full scale output.

They are electrically compatible with common alternatives, combine advanced strain gauge and materials technology, and are fitted as standard with a precision calibration resistor which provides an accurate output of 80% of the full scale range when switched into circuit.
