Abrasives suppliers showed latest
grinding systems
Manufacturing efficiency were shown to be improved in 'one stop' at MACH 2006 where three suppliers joined forces to offer consultation on grinding issues, and demonstrate latest technology.
3M Abrasive products deliver the highest levels of productivity; consistency; surface quality and operating life They also benefit operators through reduced vibration and noise

Cut-off abrasive wheels are iron-free
3M has introduced aluminium oxide abrasive cut-off wheels for angle grinders that are iron-free and will cut through most materials including stainless steels.
Abrasive belts have high- and low-pressure options
High- and low-pressure options have been added to a range of abrasive belts, which can now work on a variety of metals, part shapes and conditions and minimise surface scratches.
At MACH 2006, 3M teamed up with machinery suppliers Dynabrade and Surtech to explain how users could reap the benefits of today's advanced grinding technology.
Available for individual consultation, 3M experts will demonstrated the full range of 3M abrasive products using the latest Dynabrade pneumatic systems, and Surtech electrical tools.
Among the newest products shown were 3M 947D and 3M Trizact CF Abrasive Belts, plus the range of Scotch-Brite Bristle Abrasives for applications including weld cleaning.

Latest abrasives and air-tools exhibited
As well as demonstrating its vast range of abrasive products at MACH 2008, a company will be showing its latest air-powered tools, including a random orbital sander.
Random orbital sanders meet vibration directive
Designed from 'first principles', a range of air-powered random orbital sanders has good vibratory performance allowing workers to work comfortably for longer.
There was a chance to catch a first glimpse of the latest Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Product, due to hit the market later this year.
3M also ran live hand-arm vibration tests using 3M Green Corps Flexible Grinding Discs.
There were a host of other products on demonstration as well, including 3M's top performing 985C Fibre Disc.
This was a fantastic opportunity to see the latest grinding technology in action, said Jonathan McGargle, business development manager at 3M Abrasive Systems.
"It also offered visitors the unique chance to consult both the abrasive materials and the machinery experts simultaneously, making the most efficient use of time at the show.
Our long term relationships with both Dynabrade and Surtech have led to the development of closely integrated grinding solutions that match the best abrasive materials with the latest pneumatic and electric tool systems.
Visitors found out how we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of different tooling operations, and how we can work with them to solve their grinding problems." The recently released 985C fibre disc, designed for aggressive high pressure applications where large amounts of metal must be removed, was shown along with the latest belt equivalent, 3M 947D.
Both benefit from a high cut rate and brilliant consistency through the product life, with reduced noise and vibration when partnered with the right tools.
The resultant reduction in grinding stages and increased operation life accumulates significant cost savings over time.
Also shown was the new 3M Trizact CF belt system.
This product features an innovative macro-replicated design with 3D abrasive deposits on the surface.
Like the original micro-replicated design, it wears down in a predictable fashion to reveal new mineral deposits, providing a consistent cut throughout the product life.
It is ideal for earlier finishing operations than the other Trizact abrasives, where a measured finish in still required, such as on turbine blades.
3M, Scotch-Brite, and Trizact are trademarks of 3M Company.
