Alarm Management Workshop in Detroit, Michigan
Matrikon will be hosting the 2005 Alarm Management Workshop for the Power Industry, to be held May 12th and 13th, 2005, in Detroit, Michigan.
Matrikon has announced that it will be hosting the 2005 Alarm Management Workshop for the Power Industry, to be held May 12th and 13th, 2005, in Detroit, Michigan.
The purpose of this event is to help plant personnel in the power industry understand the potential for plant control systems optimization through alarm management strategies, as well as to prepare for upcoming government standards concerning health, safety and the environment.
In addition, a detailed focus on process optimization and efficiency will be presented.
"So many plant operators are overwhelmed with nuisance alarms that prevent them from effectively managing the production process," said Michael Marvan, Senior Applications Engineer and Alarm Management Instructor with Matrikon.
"We've been involved in a large number of these projects over the past 5 years," he stated.
"We've seen the concrete benefits of alarm management strategies, and we've identified the key steps that a plant needs to take in order to turn nuisance alarms into something operators can actually use to optimize operations and meet safety and environmental targets." Scheduled sessions during the two-day event include:.
- Creating Alarm Management Philosophy Documents that effectively guide alarm management efforts.
- Best Practice Alarm Management Strategies from the power industry.
- Standards Legislation: Preparing for new safety, procedure and insurance regulations (ISA, EEMUA, OSHA, ISO, Responsible Care ).
- Alarm Management Project Management and Execution Roadmap.
- Alarm Analysis Techniques: How to eliminate up to 75% of control system alarms through alarm flood analysis and bad actor elimination.
- Alarm Optimization: Techniques to improve safety, meet production demands and reduce trips.
- Advanced Alarm Rationalization and Alarm Objective Analysis.
