Machining centre can act as a CMM
An Italian probing systems manufacturer has developed software that will allow a machining centre or CNC milling machine to be used as a CMM to check wokpieces.
Marposs of Bentivoglio, Italy, has introduced its 3D Shape Detector software, which is designed to allow machine shops to use their machining centres or CNC millers as a 'virtual coordinate measuring machine' (CMM) In doing so, the user can check the form and accuracy of a workpiece quickly, without having to remove it from the machine to a CMM
