Hand holding for anxious technophobes
Oasys, the software house of Arup, has a solution to the problem and offers a free trial version, and handholding support, for its Mail Manager e-mail filing software.
Our skills are diverse, ranging from the design of buildings and bridges, to automotive engineering and business consulting.
Arup first used DYNA3D in 1982 to study the impact behaviour of Magnox nuclear waste transportation flasks.
This 3-year long project for the UK Central Electricity Generating Board culminated in a highly publicised test of a train impact into the flask.
As expected from the results of simulations performed in DYNA3D, the flask did not fail, and the project was a success.
In 1989 Arup was made the distributor of LS-DYNA(3D) in the UK and we have had a close relationship with LSTC ever since.
We now support over 80 customers using LS-DYNA in the UK and are constantly looking for ways to offer excellent services to them.
We have developed in house tools such as Dynatrack (a searchable database used to log support cases) and host conferences and regular update meetings to keep customers abreast of the latest developments in LS-DYNA.
We have also contributed to the development of LS-DYNA, writing several keywords and even developing our own modified version of LS-DYNA for civil engineering applications called CEAP, which is currently being integrated into LS-DYNA for release in version 971 (Release 2) .
Arup produces peripheral software for LS-DYNA, comprising PRIMER (pre-processor), D3PLOT and T/HIS (post-processors) and REPORTER (automatic report generation).
Our peripheral software is designed solely for LS-DYNA and is always up to date with the latest versions.
We also produce a graphical user interface for submitting and monitoring jobs called the Oasys SHELL.
Arup has developed correlated LS-DYNA models of barriers and pedestrian impactors for various automotive test simulations.
These models are used widely in the automotive industry.
With 40 years in East Asia we have been involved in many of the region's largest and most prestigious projects.
We continue to grow and develop our expertise within the region and are able to offer a vast global network of skills.
Our approach ensures that we deliver the best team, solutions and outcomes for our clients.
