Although the prime motive behind Draeger's investment in a recycling system and sump sucker was environmental, a substantial reduction in production costs was also realised.

Although the prime motive behind Draeger's investment in a Master Chemical XYBEX Recycling System and Yellow-Bellied Sump Sucker was environmental, a substantial reduction in production costs will be a natural by-product Draeger Safety UK is a world leader in the design and manufacture of breathing apparatus and gas detection systems to the fire services and industry worldwide

The XYBEX recycling plant has just been installed at the Blyth factory, one of 40 Draeger sites worldwide.

This factory is responsible for the design and manufacture of compressed air breathing equipment and fixed gas detection system controllers.

The purchase of the XYBEX was in line with Draeger's commitment to EN14001certification but as Steve Layton, Production Manager confirms, "It will also significantly reduce our overheads as we plan to reclaim all coolant and tramp oil." The new plant will serve every CNC turning machine and machining centre on site.

"Naturally we investigated other recycling systems but the XYBEX was the only one to meet our requirements exactly," Layton concluded.

"The payback time period was also very attractive.".
