Grinding fluid works with plastics too
A cutting fluid originally formulated for the grinding of metals has also proven to be suitable for grinding plastics where accuracy and smooth finish are required.
Manufacturers that need to shape or finish plastics products may be interested in a new development from an unlikely source Master Chemical Europe is a long established manufacturer of high quality metalworking fluids
Its products can be found in many machine shops throughout the world.
Initially introduced as a highly cost-competitive grinding synthetic for ferrous and non-ferrous metals its new TRIM C276 has recently completed trials on plastics with very good results.
TRIM C276 has proved ideal for grinding plastics in applications that call for high geometric accuracy and a particularly smooth surface finish.
Another important benefit is its ability to carry off any airborne plastic 'swarf'.
It therefore keeps the machine and the machining environment clean both of which are important health and safety issues.
