Accurate colour-independent presence
sensing
The UZD3 optical sensor has been designed to use the triangulation measurement principle to give very accurate colour-independent presence sensing of objects on a production line
Available now from Matsushita Electric Works is the UZD3 Sensor This extremely high-performance optical sensor has been designed to use the triangulation measurement principle to give very accurate colour-independent presence sensing of objects on a production line, long-distance sensing or position sensing

Smallest motion sensor sensitivity can be adjusted
Claimed to be the world's smallest PIR (passive infrared) sensor, the MP Motion Sensor is now available in an analogue output model that enables sensitivity to be adjusted.
Connector copes with mating stresses
The P5KF Narrow-pitch Connector from Matsushita Electric Works features a unique bellows-type twin contact structure that resists mating stresses and offers high contact reliability.
The triangulation measurement principle analyses received light intensity and angle in such a way that the target object's colour and material do not affect the sensor's performance.
Moreover, the sensor also has an adjustable sensing range that is not adversely affected by background objects.
Two sensing distances are adjustable, up to 2m maximum.
The sensor also features automatic cross-talk suppression and it comes in two varieties: diffuse and diffuse/double output.
Both types are short-circuit protected and boast switchable output operation (sensor ON/OFF).
The operating voltage is from 10 to 30VDC (+/-10%) and the working ambient temperature range is from -20 to +55oC.
The UZD3 is very compact considering its fine performance and measures a mere 68 x 20 x 40mm.
A full range of mounting accessories is available for this IP67 protected range from Matsushita.
Applications for the UZD3 include sensing of two different objects on separate conveyor belts at the same time, sensing objects at relatively long distance (eg: people in revolving doors for safety or security) and the positioning of vehicles in a confined space.
