The FP0 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) series from Matsushita Electric Works has been further enhanced with the addition of the new 8 channel Analogue Expansion Unit.

The FP0 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) series from Matsushita Electric Works has been further enhanced with the addition of the new 8 channel Analogue Expansion Unit.

Designated the FP0-A80, the new device is capable of processing 8 analogue inputs at conversion speeds of 2ms.

For further flexibility, each FP0 CPU can support up to 3 expansion units, enabling a total of 24 analogue inputs to be realised per PLC.

The high performance FP0-A80 offers 12-bit resolution and high-speed A/D conversion.

This allows for accurate process control of analogue systems, which can be further enhanced with the added feature of a PID control function in the FP0 PLC instruction set.

The new unit can be configured via the DIP switches to set the required analogue ranges.

Each input on the unit can accept voltages of +/-100mV, 0-5V and +/-100V and currents ranging from 0-20mA.

In addition, the versatile FP0-A80 can be used in combination with all other FP0 expansion units including digital modules.

The FP0 CPU itself is incredibly small, measuring just 25 x 90 x 60mm, and allows the user to realise general RS232C communications between PLC and other devices such as HMI_s, modems and printers.

With an I/O capacity of up to 128 points and features including high-speed counter (10kHz), interrupt processing and two-axis stepper motor, the flexible FP0 series enables cost-effective solutions to a broad spectrum of control and automation applications.
