The FP2 ET-LAN unit is an extension to the popular FP2 PLC series from Matsushita Electric Works, which enables Ethernet connection It supports both the TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols, enabling very fast, error-free communication with a broad range of computers and other network devices

Processes can be carried out on up to eight connections on the network using one FP2 ET-LAN unit.

This enables connection to multiple partner nodes.

The maximum number of units, which can be added to a system, is five for the FP2SH PLC (total 40 connections), and three for the FP2 PLC (total 24 connections).

All three types of Ethernet communication interface are supported (10BASE5, 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX), and any one can be utilised.

Users can easily alternate between Ethernet interfaces by using a manually operated switch, automatic switching between 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX is also possible via an auto-negotiation function.

The module is based on TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols and can be operated in two different modes: 7 MEWTOCOL communication function (computer linking and data transmission): this is a Matsushita protocol that enables data to be exchanged.

It also allows remote programming of the control via an Ethernet link.

7 Transparent communication function: this allows communication between general-purpose devices (such as computers).

The FP2 Series from MEW offers top performance and a full range of functions at just 36% of the volume of comparable controllers.

The ET-LAN module is the latest of many additions to the range, giving the user a modular set up and reliable applications.
