The P5KF Narrow-pitch Connector from Matsushita Electric Works features a unique bellows-type twin contact structure that resists mating stresses and offers high contact reliability This, combined with its compact dimensions, makes it wholly suited for use in cellular phones, test equipment and portable data terminals

In its smallest guise, the P5KF has a profile of just 1.5mm enabling two PCBs to be connected together in the most space efficient manner.

Despite its low profile, the bellows technology gives the P5KF an effective mating length of 0.55mm.

This unique benefit, when compared with conventional designs, means that normal electrical connection can be maintained even if the PCBs become stressed or the connector becomes slightly uncoupled.

The bellows-type construction of the P5KF realises a wide distance between the contact surface and the solder pad.

This yields an improved resistance to solder lift-off and thus makes for a more reliable connection.

In addition, the connector's simple friction-fit interlocking mechanism makes it ideal for FPC and PCB insertion.

More about MEWs' Range of Connectors The P5KF has impressive isolation characteristics of a minimum 1000MOhms and a maximum contact resistance of 90mOhms.

This connector is only one of Matsushita Electric Works' wide range of board to board narrow-pitch connectors, which all feature excellent shock and vibration characteristics.

Other types are available with 0.5, 0.6, 0.8 or 1mm pitch between terminals.
