Digital mark sensor detects subtle colour changes
High resolution digital mark sensor provides a highly reliable method of performing fast detection of coloured marks by using red, green and blue LEDs according to the type of mark.
The new digital SUNX sensor, the LX100, from Matsushita uses a high resolution 12-bit A/D converter, enabling extremely reliable colour mark detection.
Moreover, the converter enables a resolution of 1/4000, which provides the facility to perform highly accurate colour detection.
When operating as a mark detection sensor, the LX100 uses red, green and blue LEDs, which allow it to automatically select an LED source most suitable for the colour of mark it is required to detect.
The optimal LED colour is selected by analysing the contrast between the mark and the background - effectively the signal to noise ratio.
Similarly, in the colour detection mode, the device uses all the three LED sources to determine the RGB ratio of the returned light from the target area.
The high resolution of 1/4000 enables a highly reliable detection of very subtle shades of colour variations.
Once configured, a response time of just 45 microseconds makes the sensor ideal for high-speed applications.
Extremely easy to use, a full auto-teach mode allows the device to be configured 'on the fly' without stopping the process.
Further speeding up the configuration of the LX100 sensor, the device uses SUNX's MODE NAVI system for touch teach setting.
Simple ON/OFF buttons allow configuration, as well as confirmation from the 4 digit display as to the status of the taught configuration.
If required, the detection thresholds can be manually adjusted via the same buttons.
This IP67 rated sensor has the usual PNP/ NPN outputs, short circuit protection and comes in either cable or connector versions making it one of the most advanced sensors in the industry.
