Product synergy offers unprecedented performance
Matrox MED Series of display controllers now supported by Matrox Imaging Library software development toolkit.
Matrox Graphics, the leading manufacturer of professional graphics solutions, is pleased to announce that its Matrox MED Series of display controllers are now supported by the Matrox Imaging Library (MIL), the field-proven software development kit from its sister company, Matrox Electronic Systems.
Designed to meet the demanding needs of medical imaging professionals, the Matrox MED Series of display controllers represents a top-to-bottom solution capable of an array of display configurations for landscape and portrait modes ranging from two through five megapixels, and includes a variety of grayscale and colour models with analog and digital display support.
MIL has been optimised for this line of display controllers, so common display controls such as window leveling, pan, zoom, and scroll are performed on-board in real time rather than the host, leaving it available for other system activities.
Without the slow re-painting and tearing that is associated with software-controlled displays, the diagnostician has a high-fidelity, high-performance tool.
Furthermore, the partnership allows MIL users to take advantage of the benefits offered by the MED series, namely caching up to 16-bit images on board and displaying 10-bit simultaneous shades of gray.
"MIL's support of the Matrox MED Series display controllers is an exciting development that brings accelerated functionality to medical imaging professionals," says George Rigas, medical product manager, Matrox Graphics.
"By using the MIL software development toolkit with our display controllers, ISVs can develop compelling medical solutions for medical professionals, allowing them to experience fluid and fast image manipulation for pristine images and more efficient review and diagnosis".
Bringing advanced functionality and flexibility to the medical imaging market, the Matrox MED Series of display controllers are capable of driving all types of displays, and feature extensive multi-monitor support, pristine image quality and robust drivers.
Now with OpenGL support in grayscale modes, Matrox MED Series display controllers boast the widest range of grayscale and colour, resolution and operating system support on the market, and are ideal solutions for medical imaging professionals who demand the utmost in flexibility, quality, software compatibility and product features.
The Matrox Imaging Library (MIL), an award-winning, field-proven, high-level programming library, recently celebrated 10 years of excellence.
This software development toolkit features an extensive set of optimised functions for image capture, display, graphics, archiving, and image processing and analysis.
Medical applications can take advantage of image processing functions such as arithmetic, spatial and temporal filters.
Such operations can also run on image processing accelerators like Matrox Odyssey under the same API.
Furthermore, images can be compressed/decompressed with JPEG and JPEG2000 algorithms.
