Early Support for Documentum Webtop 5
McLaren has announced that the latest version of its kVisia Industry Process Server (IPS) will be one of the first Documentum partner products to support Documentum Webtop 5.
McLaren has today announced that the latest version of its kVisia Industry Process Server (IPS) will be one of the first Documentum partner products to support Documentum Webtop 5.
kVisia software products build Document Lifecycle Applications that allow organizations to define, manage, change and control complex documents and the business processes associated with them.
kVisia IPS 2.3 will be launched in April to provide users with full consumer functionality to support Documentum Webtop 5.
This will give internal and external users, outside of the firewall, 'read-only' access to documents - both the content and custom property pages - via a thin web client, irrespective of their bandwidth.
In addition, this will be followed shortly with the launch of kVisia IPS 2.4.
This release will provide full configurable kVisia support for contributors in Documentum Webtop 5.
This will allow external users to create documents, according to the business rules configured in kVisia, see the document properties and to streamline the processes of information retrieval and updating.
The kVisia RuleBank stores these business rules as a set of XML configuration files that are applied to both the Desktop and Webtop versions.
This means businesses do not have to incur the additional costs or delays associated with re-writing code for both platforms.
In addition kVisia VueServer 5 is now Dcoumentum 5 Webtop compatible enabling users to access documents via their Internet browser, without the authoring application.
kVisia VueServer allows users to view, redline and annotate over 200 file formats, including all major CAD formats.
McLaren's CTO David Parry commented: "The latest versions of kVisia Industry Process Server have been designed to support the Documentum Webtop strategy.
As a company, McLaren is committed to mirroring the developments in Documentum's technology strategy to ensure that our customers can quickly benefit from every upgrade.".
