Mini-moulder saves costs on small parts
At a time when keeping manufacturing costs down is crucial - here's news of a machine which will guarantee significant cost savings to injection moulders.
Developed, tooled, moulded and assembled by Solutions-Injection Moulding, which specialises in the production of parts weighing under 8g, the new 'Lice Stick' comprises four mouldings per assembly and measures 75mm x 50mm x 22mm.
Two internal coloured parts are moulded from HIPS on a 12/90 HSP Minimolder, MCP's fully automatic, horizontal machine built for the production of parts with a shot weight of between 0.02g and 12g.
The two clear cover parts are produced on a conventional injection moulding machine from Polypropylene.
Managing director at Solutions Injection Moulding, Ray Liddell, says "No one could believe we produced the coloured parts using such a small tool." The two impression tool with two sliding cores measures 100mm x 110m x 130mm deep.
Liddell believes the MiniMolder's excellent cycle time, combined with low scrap rate, fast set up and colour change times, combine to make it the ideal machine for this type of job.
With a time to market saving of around four weeks and tooling costs around 40% less than conventional, Solutions-Injection Moulding were able to deliver this job, including tooling, parts and delivery for less than a Chinese competitor. Request a free brochure from MCP Tooling Technologies ...
