RP/RM machines produce durable
components
A rapid prototyping and manufacturing bureau has launched the use of a resin high durability applications in its stereolithography machines.
Materialise NV, leader in rapid prototyping and manufacturing (RP and M) solutions, is proud to be the first service bureau in Europe to launch DMS Somos' latest DMX-SLTM100 resin on their stereolithography machines This revolutionary material is the industry's first SLA resin targeted to high durability applications and is therefore a significant new chemistry platform for personalised manufacturing development

Recently, Materialise has successfully put the new DMX-SLTM100 resin on one of their stereolithography machines.
They are the first European service bureau to run this advanced resin and make DMX-SL100 parts now commercially available throughout Europe.
DSM Somos DMX-SL 100 is an extremely durable SLA resin that produces very accurate parts with high feature detail and is a creamy white colour.
Based on a whole new chemistry platform which gives the material high impact resistance similar to thermoplastics, it is a breakthrough in stereolithography resin technology.
Tough, complex parts can be built with a superb surface finish compared with competing technologies.
Toon Roels, R and D manager at Materialise is more than satisfied with the results: "We currently have installed the new resin on an SLA 3500 machine, with maximal dimensions of 350x350x200mm.
What strikes me is the high impact strength and the resistance to breakage of the DMX-SL100 parts".
"They are rigid yet bendable, which is an innovative combination for SLA resins.
This allows, among others, the use of the material for applications with snap fits.
We will definitely continue with further tests on this resin because we see great opportunities in it".
