An interactive networking event designed to provide solutions to medical device design and manufacturing challenges is running alongside Medical Device Technology Exhibition.

An interactive networking event designed to provide solutions to medical device design and manufacturing challenges is running alongside Medical Device Technology Exhibition for the first time on 15-16 February 2006.

The MDT Collaboration Forum is designed to match developments in design and materials to manufacturing needs, and to accelerate the transfer of the latest technologies from research and development to make more effective medical and in vitro devices.

Through the event's website, delegates are able to build their own personal schedule of presentations and discussion groups.

The Forum also offers the opportunity to broker solutions and develop new business contacts in prearranged one-on-one meetings.

This style of event received extraordinarily positive feedback when MDT ran their inaugural Innovation Forum in July of this year.

Major suppliers, together with medical device and in-vitro diagnostic designers and manufacturers, are expected to attend the Forum.

The Forum's plenary sessions will focus on the technology challenges in four major clinical and medical device areas: Vascular and Cardiovascular, Urology, Wound care and Assistive Technologies.

Attendees will gain inside information about where the technical challenges lie and how they could be met.

The experts will present on a range of topics such as Cardiovascular Disease: Surgery and Intervention, Clinical Perspectives on the Design Features of Tomorrow's Devices, Introducing New Devices for Urology, Neuromodulation of the Bladder by Implant, Intelligent Dressings for Wound Management, Health Care at Home: The Technology Challenge, and Challenges in Stroke Rehabilitation.

In addition to these top-flight speaker presentations, there are around 60 round-table discussions and one-on-one meetings, all designed to enable first-class peer-to-peer networking, build the right partnerships and share best practice.

Discussion group topics are driven and directed by delegates and will include latest manufacturing techniques and use of materials, clinical and commercial opportunities of the future, applications of new innovative products, finding the best manufacturing partners, approaches to risk analysis and the process of taking products to market.

"The MDT Collaboration Forum is the place where problems meet solutions in the design and manufacturing processes of medical devices and in vitro diagnostics products" says Karen Parks, Managing Director of Octomedia, the organisers of the Forum.

"The July MDT Innovation Forum attracted almost 300 participants and was a resounding hit among attendees.

The unique nature of this style of event means that there is a real opportunity for meaningful networking and commercial interaction, something that this industry sector thrives on." The MDT Collaboration Forum is supported by the Medical Devices Faraday Partnership.
