Dies pull burrs from thin sheet without
problems
Slug free light dies for thin sheet metal eliminate slug (burr) pulling by making series of very small protrusions around the edge of the burr and so improve quality.
Mate Precision Tooling's new Slug Free Light dies are designed to increase punched part quality and eliminate slug pulling problems in thin sheet metal During each punching cycle, the Mate Slug Free Light die creates a series of very small protrusions around the edge of the slug

Punch press tooling facilitates quick setups
Quick setup, easy installation, faster maintenance, and interchangeability with other suppliers' tools and tooling systems are the main benefits of tool technology for CNC punch presses.
Each of these small protrusions is made by a small angled notch that is cut into the die opening.
As the slug passes through the die, the position of the protrusion relative to the notch changes slightly.
Pressure between the slug and the die land occurs, preventing it from pulling back through the top of the die and onto the work piece.
The slug is then safely cleared on the next stroke from the punching zone.
By eliminating slug pulling with every punch cycle, piece part quality is assured and tool life is increased.
Slug Free Light dies are designed for high performance punching of thin sheet metal with the following maximum thicknesses and where the recommended die clearance is less than 0.008in (0.20mm): * Stainless steel to 0.032in (0.80mm.) * Mild steel to 0.040in (1.00mm).
* Aluminum to 0.048in (1.20mm).
Slug Free Light dies are available for all thick turret tooling including Mates Ultra tooling product offerings. Request a free brochure from Mate Precision Tooling ...
