MTL Group has invested in a bevel laser cutting system with the aim of attracting contracts from global OEMs in the defence, rail, recycling, shipbuilding and related industries.

The system has a cutting area of 20m by 3.2m and is capable of cutting materials up to 25mm thick.

Henry Shirman, managing director of MTL, said: 'Our wide range of industry-leading laser machines means MTL is capable of handling all sizes and types of job, from carbon steels to aluminium, working 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

'The new Messer is the largest laser machine in the UK, capable of cutting both chamfers and weld preps of up to +/-50 degrees, improving efficiency and productivity - reducing costs and lead times for our customers.'.
