As a direct result of the outstanding sales success achieved by combination testers in its new MFT1500 range, Megger is supplying a free calibration certificate, worth 69 (GBP), with every instrument it sells from the range.

This move follows the installation of new automated test and inspection equipment at Megger's Dover plant, to cope with the demand for MFT1500 products.

"Investment in the very latest equipment has helped us to reduce the manufacturing and testing costs for the MFT1500 range," said Megger's Mark Hadley, "and we are delighted to be able to pass these savings on to our customers, in the form of free calibration certificates." "The key to the success of the instruments in the MFT1500 range," continued Hadley, "has undoubtedly been their unique ergonomic design, which was developed after consulting a large number of contractors in the UK about their needs.

Now, with the free certificates, users can enjoy the convenience, reliability and easy handling which this design offers, together with even better value for money!" MFT1500-series testers provide all of the testing facilities needed by electrical contractors in a single, compact, and very robust instrument.

To protect users, even when they are working under difficult conditions, the testers incorporate an extensive range of safety features.

These include live circuit warning, auto-discharge after insulation tests, and colour-coded controls which reduce the risk of operator error.

The testers are available in two versions.

The low-cost MFT1501 provides facilities which include continuity testing with an adjustable-threshold buzzer; continuity measurement up to 99.9kohms; insulation testing at up 1,000V; standard, selective and DC-sensitive RCD testing; RCD ramp testing; non-tripping and high-current loop tests; three-phase loop tests; and prospective short-circuit current measurement.

To these basic features, the MFT1502 adds backlighting not only to the display, but also to the selector switches, making the instrument particularly easy to use in poorly lit areas.

Other features include an illuminated switch probe, and a durable carrying case.

The SPL1000 illuminated switch probe - the first of its type - provides a convenient light-source at the probe tip, which makes testing much easier, and includes a test button which greatly facilitates single-handed use.

Also incorporated in the probe are interchangeable probe tips for reaching difficult terminals, as well as a status LED, which shows red if the instrument is connected to a live circuit when the insulation range is selected, and green when a valid test result is displayed.
