Versatile crossbar transfer retrofits to presses

A Muller Weingarten product story

As well as replacing existing mechanical and robotic parts feeders, a crossbar transfer system can be retrofitted to mechanical and hydraulic standard press lines.

As well as replacing existing mechanical and robotic parts feeders, a crossbar transfer system can be retrofitted to mechanical and hydraulic standard press lines.

The Muller Weingarten 'Swivelarm' system combines a linear transfer system with a joint arm system.

In Swivelarm, a stable connection module holds the suction cup bar centrally.

Its variable width makes it possible to modernise existing press lines of any size.

Parts are orientated directly on the suction cup bar during transport; there is no need for orientating stations.

Large distances between presses are spanned at high transport speeds, so that high cycle rates can be achieved.

The transfer system can also be used in tandem part production.

As well as for transporting parts directly from press to press, Swivelarm systems can also be used for blank feed into the lead press in a tandem line and for finished part removal with programmed parts positioning.

* Different movement patterns by combining linear and joint arm movement - the format and movement sequence of the SynTec Swivelarm transfer system fifer from all other crossbar systems.

A combination of linear and joint arm movement transports parts in conjunction with a lifting/lowering movement.

Any desired movement profile can be programmed.

Control and visualisation of the SynTec Swivelarm can be integrated in the press control system, thereby simplifying operation.

Starting from a basic configuration, the suction cup bars can be equipped with various function modules: for example - they can swivel about their linear axis; separate tandem parts as well as shifting parts laterally in relation to the working direction.

The system can also be used on double-action presses.

* Productivity boost - standard press lines with classical press distances of up to 8m (say 26ft) can be equipped with Swivelarm.

The design of Swivelarm is intended to span large distances.

Transport speeds exceeding 10m/s can be achieved, resulting in a production output of 7-13 cycles/min.
