Leading power press systems builder, Muller Weingarten, has purchased the intellectual property rights as well as land and buildings of the USA-based company Bliss Clearing Niagara.

The group purchased through an asset deal the intellectual property rights as wel as land and buildings of the US- based company Bliss Clearing Niagara.

An Agreement to this effect became valid today.

The new company named BCN Technical Services will be operating out of Hastings, Michigan.

Paul Nicholson, currently managing director of Mueller Weingarten UK, and who has taken the helm of the new company, commented: "BCN is a successful service company, specializing in the supply of spare parts, maintenance and repair of presses built by the former companies Bliss, Clearing and Niagara.

We are looking forward to working with the highly motivated andf qualified work- force of BCN in order to further expand the business." BCN employed last year approx.

60 people, creating a turnover of US$18 million and was profitable.

Roland Kuehnel, who will be taken the responsibilities of CFO at BCN Technical Services, explained: "The aim of this acquisition is to expand our successful Service activities in North America and Europe.

BCN Technical Services will contribute significantly to the group's goal of pushing the annual Service turnover beyond US$150 million." In 2005, the Mueller Weingarten group had for the first time received orders for almost EUR 100 million (US$130 million) in service.

The groups' total turnover exceeded EUR 400 million (US$500 million).

The number of presses built by Bliss, Clearing and Niagara that are still operational is estimated at somewhere between 75,000 and 100,000 worldwide - offering an excellent basis for the future growth.

"Together, we intend to get a big slice of this cake," commented vice president Paul Gleeson, the third of the three managers.

"In addition to acquiring the rights to the drawings, Mueller Weingarten will also obtain access to new customers, thus strengthening its market position for the times when customers will start in- vesting again in new machines," Gleeson explained.

Both parties agreed to not disclose the transaction price.
