Manual and automatic filters are self-cleaning
Manual and automatic self cleaning filters can process flow rates up to 400m3/hr with fineness down to 10 micron dependent on filter type and application.
Coolant treatment automatic backflushing filter
Using a backflushing AutoFluid automatic filter Mann+Hummel has overcome the problem of treating cooling emulsion during cutting.
The suds dirtied with oil and chips containing various materials (aluminium cast iron, steel, etc) with different particle sizes represented the challenge for the filter.
Filtration was necessary to protect the high pressure pump and lengthen the service life of the suds.
Originally the plant was supplied with strainer filters.
However regular servicing carried out manually caused running costs to escalate.
Mann+Hummel solved the task with a Profluid DN 50 with a filter fineness of 75 micron.
The filter insert from Profluid is a gap-type tube filter and its cleaning is achieved with a combination of backflushing and mechanical scraping.
This makes Profluid especially efficient with applications where particles of varying size and geometry have to be filtered out.
The mechanical scrapers also free the gap-tube of near-size particles.
The automatic cleaning removes the need for manual servicing and therefore considerably reduces running costs.
In addition the ProFluld, unlike strainer filters, has a defined gap width which guarantees excellent process reliability.
