Modules and CCD speed rotary transfer design

A Mikron Machining Technology product story

With the new Multifast modular machining system, Mikron has revolutionised the high volume rotary transfer machine.

With the new Multifast modular machining system, Mikron has revolutionised the high volume rotary transfer machine.

The company has also improved the Multistep idea.

This rotary transfer machine can be quickly scaled and reconfigured.

The system uses a series of standard platforms - including triax units, satellites and robot controls - in conjunction with a digitised Customer Driven Design (CDD) to customise the parts handling system, clamping and machining technologies.

Mikron consulting engines interact with customers on-site to produce realistic simulations of individual machine configurations.

Mikron claims it reduces time occupied in quotations and machine construction.

Since its introduction as a modular, multi-function linear transfer system a few years ago, the latest version of the Multistep achieves higher acceleration by a factor of four to seven in the directly driven B/C axis, increasing fast traverse speeds by a factor of up to four.

Pivoting times have been reduced by between 50 and 70% (for 90 and 180deg pivoting motions).

Applying direct drives has reduced the number of mechanical wear parts and improved accuracy The Multistep concept was devised by Mikron Agno to provide a linear transfer machine - for multi-processing small to medium sized parts, including turning, milling, drilling and so on - with the flexibility of a machining centre in terms of retooling and programming.
