Machine tool maintenance scheme optimised
Swiss machining systems builder has introduced an optimised maintenance scheme against a fixed price, checklist based contract that includes labour, spare and wear parts, and travelling.
Mikron Machining Technology of Agno, Switzerland has created a cost-effective method for European customers to forward plan servicing and ensure their installed Mikron machines are maintained in prime production condition.
The Optimised Maintenance Scheme is not age related to the machine and has been devised to be proactive and driven by Mikron Machining Technology against a fixed price, checklist based contract that includes labour, spare and wear parts, and travelling.
According to Axel Warth, global service solutions marketing and sales: "Most Mikron rotary and inline transfer machines tend to be key production units, due to their high output capability and flexibility to combine several operations into a single automatic cycle.
This means preventative maintenance is of major importance to avoid unscheduled production stoppages due to breakdown.
However, because these machines are so important, production departments are always reluctant to release machines for service, especially by internal maintenance crews.
With our specialist knowledge we are able to independently drive the maintenance programme, minimise downtime and provide a cost-effective solution." The Mikron scheme is priced and structured against the number of shifts the machines are run, the machine type, material and process requirements.
The service is structured to cover mechanical, electrical and electronics which includes the CNC units as well as safety, alignment checks and customer reporting.
This enables the Mikron service team to recognise and eliminate, in conjunction with the customer, any weakness, defect or problem at an early stage that prevents further deterioration leading to more serious damage, production delay and a higher cost to repair.
The scheme would be tailored to suit each machine and application with invoicing for the maintenance scheme following the first service visit.
