Orders break sales records for Mills in Leamington
Mills Manufacturing Technology has seen a record start to 2004 with orders for nearly 40 CNC lathes and machining centres in the first seven weeks, so justifying the cost in moving to the Midlands.
Mills Manufacturing Technology has seen a record start to 2004 with orders for nearly 40 CNC lathes and machining centres in the first seven weeks.
Commented MD Mike Jenkins, "The decision to move from Norwich to Leamington was a tough one, coming as it did in the declining market of 2002, but the growing sales through 2003 and the great start to this year confirm it was the right thing to do." Jenkins admitted that the disruption of the move and the associated expenses had hit the company's financial results for 2002, but said that the subsequent turnaround had more than justified the cost.
Commenting on the start to 2004, Jenkins continued, "Our record sales have come from a variety of different sectors and confirm that there is some recovery in capital expenditure across manufacturing industry.
However, the biggest impact has come as a result of better accessibility to our customers from our central location in Leamington." Daewoo European Machine Tool Fair - as further endorsement of the benefits of the new location, Mills was chosen by one of its principals, Daewoo Machine Tools, as the venue for the Korean manufacturer's first major European machine tool show, DIMF EUROPA 2004.
The decision came hard on the heels of Mills' selection in 2003 as Daewoo's 'World Technology Dealer of the Year'.
The show, which will showcase 25 of Daewoo's latest machines, will be held at Mill's Leamington technical centre from the 20th to the 22nd of April.
More than 100 of Daewoo's European dealers and customers are expected to attend and significant numbers of UK customers have already confirmed their attendance.
