Doosan Infracore said it is part of its strategy to become the global machine tool industry leader during the next three years.
The W79 billion deal was completed in November 2006 and came into effect from January 1st 2007.
The deal will increase Doosan Infracore's machine tool output from 10,000 units/year to 15,000 units/year by 2010.
Within the same period Doosan Infracore expects to double its machine tool sales from W1 trillion (US$1.1bn) to W2 trillion (US$2.17bn).
Up until the recent acquisition Doosan Infracore and Doosan Mechatech operated separate machine tool businesses across the world - using the' Doosan' brand name.
The acquisition is expected to allay the confusion that existed before over the use of the brand name.
Doosan Infracore will concentrate on further developing the most competitive models and machines from the Doosan Mechatech range, these include the following.
* Machining centres for mould tool and die applications.
* Vertical turning centres.
* Advanced multi-axis mill-turn centres.
* Advanced vertical and horizontal machining centres.
* Advanced CNC lathes and turning centres.
* Advanced horizontal boring machines and other types o machine tools.
Doosan launched many of these new machines at the recent DIMF Show (Doosan International Machine Tool Fair) in Korea during May 2007.
Said Mike Jenkins, managing director at Mills Manufacturing Technology - Doosan Infracore's machine tool dealer in UK/Ireland: "Doosan Infracore is well on its way to achieving global leadership in the machine tool sector.
Here, in the UK and Ireland, the popularity and demand for Doosan machine tools amongst manufacturers is increasing year-on-year.
It's a phenomenon that has helped us sell over 300 machines into the market in 2006 and become one of the fastest growing machine tool company's in the UK.".
