Modular machine building systems save time

A MiniTec UK product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jun 30, 2005

UK manufacturing company will save OEMs' and machine builders' time and cost with comprehensive range of modular profile building systems for machinery and assembly lines.

Complementing its manufacturing facilities in Germany, France and the USA, MiniTec Maschinenbau, Germany, has launched a new UK based subsidiary to provide direct sales, application support, custom manufacturing and an installation service for its wide range of modular profile, machine building systems.

With applications ranging from machine frames and guards to complete assembly lines and multi-axis positioning systems, MiniTec UK will support existing users and provide a firm base for new customers for its comprehensive range of aluminium profiles and matching building components.

The subsidiary is based in Basingstoke and headed by managing director, Gary Livingstone who has more than 12 years of applications experience with the MiniTec product range.

Gary is joined by a team of knowledgeable designers, application engineers, manufacturing and support staff that come, hand picked, from the previous UK distributor for the MiniTec range.

On June 24th, the new manufacturing facility was opened by Maria Miller MP - Member of Parliament for Basingstoke.

The opening ceremony was well attended by several suppliers and customers along with Bernie Bauer the MiniTec Group president, Andreas Boehnlein - vice president technical and Ulrich Wigand - vice president - commercial.

Bauer who started the company almost twenty years ago from a very small business in Germany is planning on the new UK subsidiary bringing more employment to the area.

The UK operation will be providing complete design and specialised manufacture to mirror that of the USA and French facilities; both have enjoyed considerable growth since they were established.

Bauer says "Engineers using our systems and products like to purchase direct from the factory and talk directly with our engineers who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the product; our new UK manufacturing facility will allow these conditions and provide the sort of base we have in our own market." With over 170 employees in three German factories, ISO 9001 certified MiniTec is already an established leader in its home market and has ambitious plans and a support infrastructure to ensure growth at home and abroad.

MiniTec's maxim is 'save time' - with a strong emphasis on ensuring that the customers task of designing, specifying, purchasing, installing and maintaining its aluminium profiled building system is made as simple as possible for an ultimate lower cost of owner ship and maximum return on investment.

At the heart of the MiniTec profile system is a unique 'power-lock' fastening method which requires no specific preparation, pre-machining or special tools.

The fastening system is well proven for simplified design, rapid assembly and also allows re-usability.

All major components and sub-components are carefully matched to ensure that total flexibility in design is assured and that the MiniTec system will provide years of trouble-free life with minimal maintenance.

As well as comprehensive 'hard copy' and PDF catalogues for the profile system ranges, downloadable CAD software for AutoCAD and other CAD systems is available.

In addition, a unique, web-based E-catalogue and integrated i-CAD interactive software allows customers to view, examine and download 2D or 3D, CAD files for each single component in the range and produce complete parts lists for simplified ordering.

This system is the envy of the building profile industry and combines graphical displays of system components with itemised category lists and indexed sections for all products in the entire range.

The complete range of MiniTec products covers over 30 aluminium profiles along with an abundance of complementary components including fastening elements, links, hinges, handles, locks, feet, wheels, door elements, conveyor and machine guard system components along with electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic components.

The range also covers linear bearings, guides, motors and transmission components for pick and place and automated handing applications.

MiniTec can also provide complete turn-key assembled solutions and the entire range is supported with tools and attachments to simplify assembly and further reduce costs.
