Centre combines turning and multi-task machining

A Mori Seiki (US) product story

A multi-axis turning center that easily handles multiple small processing tasks integrates the capabilities of both a lathe and a machining center to produce complex workpieces.

Mori Seiki's MT2500 is a multi-axis turning center that easily handles multiple small processing tasks.

As part of the Mori Seiki MT Series of machines, the MT2500 integrates the capabilities of both a lathe and a machining center, and is capable of producing the most complex, high precision workpieces.

This integrated machine, which machines six-inch class workpieces, is the perfect fit for today's lean manufacturing environment where job-shop type production is demanded to increase production efficiency.

The MT2500 can machine a wide variety of workpieces.

Workpieces requiring integrated information such as airplane parts to small workpieces requiring complex and highly accurate machining can be accommodated by the MT2500.

The mass production of workpieces, which involve primarily turning, are also good candidates for machining by the MT2500.

With the adoption of a zero-center headstock, the MT2500 minimizes the displacement of the spindle center position and raises machining accuracy in the radial direction.

Good chip disposal is delivered by the machine's orthogonal Y-axis structure, which is based on a 30-degree front and 60-degree back orthogonal axis slant bed.

A rolling guideway for the Y and Z-axes insures a highly rigid cutting capacity.

T he MT 2500 also offers an optional 12-station turret with live tooling below the part centerline.

The lower turret, with a milling function that enhances machining efficiency, enables balanced turning and can access either the main spindle or sub spindle.

A lean manufacturing environment can be achieved because the MT Series allows you to finish the part in one machine thus eliminating all partially processed parts sitting around the factory.

More importantly, your part is more consistent and accurate because repositioning error has been eliminated.

M ori Seiki produces extremely reliable machine tools and distributes worldwide.
