Drills offer longer life, fewer tool changes

A Mikron Tool SA Agno product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jun 13, 2008

Mikron Tool's CrazyDrill series of drills guarantee better efficiency due to longer tool life, less tool changes, less non-productive times and fewer quality inspections.

Mikron Tool has expanded its CrazyDrill diameter range from 0.8 to 4mm to smaller and larger sizes up to 6mm.

A long-term test with 5.35mm CraztDrill in drilling 100Cr6 steel at a cutting speed of Vc = 60m/min, and a feed rate of f = 0.4mm/rev has even exceeded the ambitious targets concerning hole quality and tool life, said Mikron Tool.

The product line consists of CrazyDrill Pilot, performing a spot drilling.

The subsequent CrazyDrill Steel or CrazyDrill Cool (with through tool coolant) have been developed to drill depths of up to 15 x D (D=diameter), and also drill materials difficult to machine and harder metals.

Mikron Tool told manufacturingtalk that the CrazyDrill reliability is unmatched, whenever deep high precision holes with high surface finish are required.

Such challenges are often met in the automotive industry, in medical engineering, in die and injection mould manufacturing and also with hydraulic and pneumatic components, where the necessity for an increase in productivity and the requirements for precision and process reliability continuously rise.

A constant trend towards miniaturization is well covered by the smallest CrazyDrill sizes.

Therefore CrazyDrill is ideally suitable for such applications, said the company.

By calculating with uncompromising prize/performance factors the usage of high performance drills in most fields is without doubt favorable.

Tough machining operations imply the utilisation of the technologically highest cutting tool standards connected with an efficient, customer-oriented support.

CrazyDrill guarantees better efficiency due to longer tool life, less tool changes, less non-productive times and fewer quality inspections - just to mention a couple of advantages.

This all results in a lower cost per hole in the customers machining operations.
